This morning, Roxanne woke up and her headache that started last night hadn't gone away and had actually gotten worse so we called the Dr.s to see what they recommended. Of course, they recommended to go to the hospital to be evaluated (isn't that what they always say?). Convinced that everything was fine, Roxanne told me to stay home and she'd be back in a few hours.
The obvious indication that this wasn't a normal trip to Labor and Delivery was that Roxanne was sure that everything was fine! We'd been monitoring Roxanne's blood pressure for the past several weeks, but today was the day that it decided to go "off the charts".
After a few doses of fast-acting BP meds had no effect, the decision was made to go ahead and start the delivery process.
Of course, there was lots of anxiety over delivering so early (only 33 and a half weeks gestation), but, the only cure for preclampsyia is delivering the baby and with her blood pressure so high, it is safer for the baby to *not* be inside her anymore, regardless of how early it might be. And, it is definitely safer for Roxanne to not be pregnant any more.
It's a little after 8pm now. Roxanne is resting. Star Wars Episode I is on the tele. Roxanne's sister and family are driving up from Charleston and should be arriving around 2am... wonder if I'll get any rest before they get here?
