Waiting...

3:00 pm

We started the pitocin at 7am this morning hoping we would see contractions start right up like they did yesterday. Unfortunately, even at double the dose of pitocin, the contraction-fairies did not cooperate and there has been practically no change.

We are planning on Dr Castellion coming over after office hours and sending us into the OR for a c-section. It is looking like we will be having it this evening, but, of course, the timing may change and it may be delayed until tomorrow.

C-Section soon

4:00 pm

Unfortunately, the magnesium they gave Roxanne to keep her blood pressure down (we also used it 3 weeks ago to stop contractions) is doing a better job of stopping conractions than the pitocin is at starting the contractions. We just completed another exam and there is no change in her cervix so we are all set for the 5:00 pm c-section.

Merrianna has the hiccups (again). It sounds like she is knocking for us to open the door!

Since it's a c-section... is it more appropriate to call it an "extraction" than a "delivery"?

Merrianna's here!

6:50 pm

Vitals:

  • Time: 5:25 pm
  • Length: 17.5 inches
  • Weight: 5 lbs 1 ounce
  • Hair: dark and curly

Merrianna is in the NICU now being evaluated. So far everything looks great! She turned pink right away and has been on room air the whole time. I should be able to visit her in NICU soon so I can get some good photos.

Roxanne is recovering in her room - doing very well and is very anxious to get off of the magnesium so she can see her little darling. (They won't let her even stand up until she is off of the magnesium which should be some time tomorrow.
