Yesterday Roxanne was sent to a specialist to have a pain behind her right ribs evaluated. Dr. Godwin thinks it might just be kidney stones, but an earlier CT (while she was pregnant) showed stones in her gallbladder and kidneys. Yesterday evening the pain got much worse so she was sent to the hospital for tests and to (possibly) have her gallbladder removed (we won't know until the results of another CT scheduled for "sometime today" are in). They say that this is a relatively common post-pregnancy issue and recovery for the laproscopic procedure is only a few days to a couple weeks (it's an outpatient procedure).
12:30am
She just ate an hour ago, but is hungry... guess her little self is growing faster than we thought! Time to make her a snack.
1:45am
It's 45 minutes early for her 3 hour feeding, but Merrianna was hungry so I got up to make her a bottle. Quick diaper change while the bottle warms up, 10 minutes for her to gulp it down (she doesn't play around when it comes to feeding time), another diaper change from the mess she made while eating and I put her down to rest.
I wonder what ever happened to the 3-6-9-12 feeding schedule we were on? She seems to get hungry every 2 and a half hours now.
2:10am
That didn't last long... time for another diaper change.
5:30am
Change diaper while bottle warms, feed Merrianna, change diaper again... she's asleep so put her down and try to catch another hour of Zs for me.
6:20am
I was hoping for an hour, but it looks like 15 minutes is all I get.
Another diaper change and we walk through the downstairs together while I sing her some soft some show tunes and make faces with her. A few minutes of staring at the red curtains in the kitchen and she's ready for another nap. Finally, a chance to grab a cup of coffee. Doh! Why didn't I turn the warmer on when I got up!?!
Time to do some house-cleaning while my coffee warms up...
9:00am
I hear her stirring and that reminds me to get her next bottle ready ahead of time. I've had a productive hour - I got the downstairs bathroom cleaned, kitchen floor swept, and everything on this page up to now typed up.
After her 9:00am feeding, we're going to go visit Momma. She's on a "non-sick" floor (surgery/recovery), so it's OK to bring her in for a few minutes.
12:00pm
Back from visiting with Roxanne. Still no word on when they will run the CT scan.
2:00pm
Finally! The doctor made rounds was was not happy that Roxanne had not already had her CT scan. A few minutes later the nurse brought in the contrast - seems all it took was a phone call. Hopefully we'll find out in a couple hours what is going on. On the "possibly good news" side of things, Roxanne is hungry, so that means that it might not be her gallbladder (aparantly, when the gallbladder flares up you lose your appetite).
6:00pm
Roxanne is heading off for her CT now. The way the day has been going, it'll probably be tomorrow before anyone bothers to read it. Even if they read the CT tonight... will her doctor bother making rounds before 2pm in the afternoon to tell her what is going on? If I followed the same SLA as these guys I'd be able to work 4 jobs at once.
